hmmm i gotta rant a bit...

So just got off a couple of frustrating rounds at the final level of the Jacob's Rest campaign. I just can't fathom why people keep insisting on having to kill every single damn alien out there when all we have to do is break down the damn rocks so we can push forward. Oh no stalling the aliens isn't enough, we gotta damn kill them all even if we're gonna activate a nuke anyway to kill em all in one fell swoop. I mean granted my team pretty much kills everything in sight because hey that's what we do, but this is a random pub team and you do whatever it is that's easiest for everyone.

Just so annoying when people can't even read the situation to decide the best course of action. I mean we're getting surrounded and the easiest way to go about it is to just break down the rocks to open up the pathway, but no gotta go balls to the wall and engage every single damn alien even though our ammo is running low and we can't maneuver behind the shields since there's not enough room...

*sigh*
This is why small, online co-op games are hit-and-miss. Good team means one hell of a game while a bad team, hell even a single bad player can mean disaster...

throw him into the alien nest and be done with it
that punks need some corpal punishment if he's not a good team player.
you can always go in teams that have high-ranking players?

speaking of rant. Red Chambers is really making a part of me die inside ;-;

1. girl protects you from evil spirits and blinded her right eye
2. same girl protects you from evil thug and got slashed on her arm
3. other girl tried to defend you while you're getting bashed by your father and got kicked in the stomach.
3a. the reason you're getting bashed is because your brother from different mother falsely accused you of raping a maid (see 5) and caused her to suicide
4. got yandered due to a misunderstanding, but survives
5. you were playing around (non-sexually) with a minor-character maid and got her banished from the house and she jumped into well


the other bad news? you have to go through these events in every single route. The routes for the three main characters can only end in three ways; you die, she die or you both die (good, bad or TRUE end) and there's 2 gay ends (one more than its prequel).

Yeah I can pretty much solo most of the missions that don't require a tech (since I don't play tech), but heh this is a co-op game so I at least want people to work together. And high ranking players doesn't necessarily mean good team players. The higher ranking players tend to be huge douchebags who either bark orders at you every step of the way or just frigging rambo everything and blame the team if he dies after being swarmed.


Holy hell so Red Chambers is pretty much bad end all around except for when you go homo end? What kind of vn? are you playing??? Actually it sounds pretty awesome for when you feel the need to emotionally die inside. The endings (sans bad end) sound bittersweet; which is right up my alley so gimme some info on it (i.e. a link)

haha sounds rough. well I guess it's like any team game; when you have a pro that thinks everyone's a noob, you get an ass. Noob players probably doesn't follow orders since they think tis easy game and just rambos too? Too bad there's no friendly fire eh?

There's a coupla good ends I think lemme back track to 1st game (which is the same as the 2nd but has added routes and all sorts of stuff):

might as well give a quick recap:

you are a god and you're in love with a goddess. one day the two of you tried to get to the human world but was attacked by evil spirits. you somehow protected the goddess and got killed, but your soul was transfered into the body of your next life (we'll call him B) . The supposed goal to to recollect B's memories before a year has past and you'll be get into heaven. etc etc

thing that must happen ???
you will reunite with the goddess who is also in her next life, who should be called a yantsun (there is only little dere, only yan and tsun). then you have to severe your ties with all heroines and *plot plot plot plot plot* later she reckoned you cheated on her and stabbed you on both arms. your mama found out and kicked her outta the house while you're out cold. funny how you can pick up chicks after all that :S


Apart from the 3 new routes which I haven't really touched yet (scouting where the flags are?)
1st girl:
Dies and *supposedly will wait till you die too so you can [s]respawn[/s] be reborn together and be happy in the next life. you're suppose to die before spring but somehow you didn't die and you wait in loliness since your harem slowly disbanded until your death (since she told you not to suicide and all)

2nd Girl:
here you found out that you won't die in 1 year is because your sister (who happens to be the queen) used dark arts to exchange the life force between you and girl 2. you broke the spell and B's memories start flooding back, literally breaking down your exsistence. you managed to wed and said some emotional stuff which was alright.
supposedly after that, girl 2 is married to a man who thinks of her as a sister and likes someone else (Girl 1) ;-;

Girl 3:
werid ending but a good one. here you found out that your sister is one of your god friends from the past and was the one who saved you by giving you half her energy. then you sacrificed another half of yours to save girl 3... somehow it ended well because you both became demi-gods and live happily ever blah.

Girl 4:
your maid (woot). here you find out non-plot related shit. you realised she actually became your maid to rank up to waifu, as she backstabs all the heroines (eg. dogged the yantsun out to *evict her). you found out and ran away with her to an unknown place and lived happily ever after. good end, but never really solved any plot questions (well you didn't die because girl 2 died 4 u ;-; )

Homo:
saved homo from the sadist homo lord by sending him to a far away place (cannot skip). when you doesn't seem to be moving along in any routes, homo returns and ask you to join him in his performing crew and you went.this one is kinda like the consultation prize (or is it the punishment game?)

Yantsun/ goddess:
the True End. you found out that the goddess is actually your sister O_O
and she demanded the yantsun to act like her so you wouldn't try to find her all his life and focus on finding B's memories. won't go into detail, but you saved your sister's soul from being an evil spirit (since she used dark arts before) and somehow cleared all the curses (and your life-expectancy problem) in one full swipe. but this ending...
girl 1: married a lord
girl 2: forgot, never really liked her
girl 3: also got married off
girl 4: went to become a performer with homo
goddess: reborn as a baby, whom you would raise
dick: sealed away in thy cabinent

apart from girl 3 and possibly maid. all of them can be considered bad-ish ends.
new routes include your other maid, a nun, and the lord girl 1 was married to (perhaps a bi-?). nun will definitely end badly, bi is bi and i'm looking forward to maid #2

Well you can be a good player and not be an ass, but the gaming community has really degenerated especially when it became more mainstream.

...that has to be one of the most convoluted summaries I've ever read...

All I got were:

#1 - god and goddess apparently were in their next life
#2 - reborn god was pimping his harem
#3 - all endings sans 4 kinda suck, but its also rather bad since girl2 kinda sacrificed herself for you...
#4 - true end is convoluted as hell...but yey incest route?
#5 - nun route looks hot

I stand corrected...the game seems like a mess and downright confusing. Though oh well not like I'll ever get to read it in this lifetime so thanks for the summary; as convoluted as it was

o.o isn't red chamber the name of one of 4 chinese literature classics? is that what the game is based on?

speaking of melanholic/nostalgic/bittersweet endings, might want to try cross channel. it really wasn't my type of game, but I won't deny that it has depth and a lot of people seem to like it.
About to start Swan Song, heard it's also a pretty depressing game....

yeah the game was based (loosely in my opinion) one of the 4 great literatures. The problem with this is that it tries to have scenarios that were in the original but makes no sense to the flow of the story... pure confusion

and pimp, you got the gist of it. The game simply flows too badly to really hit the spot but parts of it is written pretty well that you'd miss it once you finish it (dunno whether i should kudos that to the original but yeah). but yeah you see my point how all the endings cannot be completely happy and there'll always be some regret...then again the originakl ended really tragically so maybe I don't deserve any better from the game O_O
