D.C. I & II P.S.P. OVA

Let's get started on the review shall we?

The entire premise of this OVA is pretty much animating the confession scenes that took place in the visual novels. For Da Capo we have Nemu and Kotori, while DCII offers up Otome and Yume. Quite frankly as someone who has gone through 3 out of the 4 routes shown, it was pleasant surprise to see them animated. Kotori's part was superb, Otome was spot on, I vaguely recall something similar happening in Yume's route but that's mostly forgotten through time now, and I have no clue if what was shown actually occurred in Nemu's route. The musical score was superb, but that's mostly due to the fact they just grabbed the tracks from the visual novel. I mean if it worked for KyoAni, then why not follow in their footsteps? It also helps that their piano score blends rather nicely with the background as far as my ears are concerned.

After much adulation and praise for this OVA, I do have a couple of concerns that could and should have been addressed. For one thing, it was rather disappointing to have the Kotori part cut short during the kiss scene. While yes I am aware of the fact that the whole point was to show the confession leading up to their first kiss while maintaining that romantic drama, the aftermath of their kiss would have provided some comedic entertainment. While not a gripe, it was rather hilarious to hear the 'romance' music playing during some confessions...I bet you know what's leading up to that huh?

The next, the last, and probably the most important one...
WHERE THE FUCK IS MY NANAKA ROUTE!?
Seriously...she had probably the best confession scene of the whole bunch and they decided to skip it!? There better be another OVA for this...I mean that's just not right! The fact that it could have gone either way is what made it such a unique scene!

Other than that, It actually made for some pleasant viewing. I mean I'm sure my heavy bias towards anything Da Capo related is probably clouding my judgment, but more anime of good galge is always a plus! Oh and they should also probably adapt all galge like this from now on...

Definitely a like. A tad hard to follow for me but pretty nice in general. Nemu is epic as usual, Kotori was pretty good and the Yume finisher was great... Otome really should have switched places with Nanaka. Very pleasant viewing

No love for Otome? I enjoyed reading that scene in the VN...as vaguely as I can recall it anyway. Besides its pretty much copy/paste from the VN.

Well judging the OVA without the prior knowledge of the VN. Otome's one is rather dull, no?

Oi! We've been in correspondence long enough for you to know that I support wincest! Just stating that if we had to take out one of them...I'd have gone with Nemu? Why? Simple...we've already seen that damn scene in the anime anyway while at least Kotori's was new and DCII pretty much had no romance really.

Otome? Dull!? That was the sweetest one out of the four in my opinion. Her characterization as the 'pure onee-san' made her little confession all the more MOE! MOE!!!

Yume was the better one I reckon. A little bit of tsundere and the strong "more than friends, less than lovers" feel to it pleases the nii
